When buying a house do things like pools and basketball nets stay?

We are buying a house with a nice pool and an expensive basketball pole, backboard, and rim. These two items were not included in the purchase aggreement. Are they considered fixtures and will be left behind by the seller?

Unless stated in the sales agreement, the pool should remain. The basketball pole, backboard and rim, if attached to a building or mounted in the ground, should also stay. If in doubt, ask your Realtor or the seller. Most attached items should remain. If the pool is to be removed, insure that the area will be cleaned up properly after removal. You wouldn’t want to start your stay in a house with extensive clean-up. In all sales agreements I have had, anything that the previous owner wishes to take with them must be in the contract. You should also do a closing day walk-through to insure you are aware of anything removed.
