Who is the best bank to get a home loan through? credit unions? i will be a first time homeowner?
i will be looking around, but just need general opinions. i know it depends on my FICO score and income. my FICO last checked at 620 but not sure what it is now.
You will likely get the best rates if you go directly through a financial institution that you have a previous account/affiliation with such as a credit union, your local or a brokerage. It is always a good idea to shop around, compare rates. A mortgage broker will have access to a number of different programs, and may be able to weed through and find options for you, but they may be more expensive because they need a cut of the commission to pay them as the “middleman”.
